- October 10 - Flu Clinic from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. If you need more info see Debbie Wilson.
- October 10 - Annual Missions Supper and Cake Walk to Benefit the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Hey,
it's almost the holidays anyway, so forget that diet and come on out
and eat for a good cause and buy more cake than you can give to all
your neighbors. We have some really really good bakers and we'll
auction off those calories in good fun, so raid your piggy banks and
wallets before the government does and come get some nice things. Word
on the street is that Edie Kiker's cake is awesome. Sorry I missed it
last time. Oh and whoever did the recipe for cinnamon apples, if they
will send the recipe to me I'll put it in Lifelines Online unless it's
a "family" secret. Reports were excellent on those too. And it will
be just in time for everybody to go on the Apple bus trip to stock up
and make some of those cinnamon apples.

October 11 - Keith Plott will be singing at 6 pm
- Oct 17 - Apple Trip bus leaves at 9 a.m. All

I imagine there is a sign up sheet somewhere because I don't know how
many apples and people you can get in that bus.
- October 31 - (Saturday) - Harvest Fest. 5 P.M. More
details to follow. I'm sure Melissa Biggers has need for helpers,
ideas, and donations so prepare for more details next week. Dream
up your best (non-satanic, demonic, violent, etc.) costume and join the
fun as we will have fun and games, hot dogs, hayrides and fun for all.

Year 'Round Collection for Operation Christmas Child |
The Youth of Poplar Grove collect donations for Operation Christmas Child all throughout the year! Each Christmas season our young people take a trip over to the Samaritan's Purse warehouse and pack gift boxes for those who are less fortunate. Visit our web site to see pictures from this year's trip! Keep in mind that sometimes it's more thrifty to buy in bulk. Perhaps it would be fun for you to have a special collection in your Sunday School class each month and draft the best bargain hunter to go out and find the donation. You know how some people just love to shop!! However you decide to do it, just bring your donations in when you come to church and let one of our youth know it's for Operation Christmas Child and it will be put away in safekeeping until next year's trip.
Take a few minutes to print or jot down the list below, and put it in your wallet or purse so you can refer to it when you're out looking for those New Year sales!
June - Plastic "shoebox type" containers
July - Pencils, pens, pads and erasers
August - Coloring books & crayons
September - Hard Candy
When selecting toys, be wary of those which might contain lead paint and choose accordingly.
The leaders have also asked for zipper type sandwich bags to keep the candy and soap separate. After working in the warehouse, they also would like to have shoe box size plastic containers to use when packing the gifts. You can find this type of plastic container in most dollar stores.

"Build
character for God. Make it four-square, with a spiritual side, a moral
side, a mental side, and a physical side. On the spiritual side square
it with Jesus Christ; let it be your ambition to be as spiritual as
your Master: on the moral side be satisfied with nothing less than the
standard set by Christ Himself, on the mental side, let the thoughts of
God rule, and on the physical side, strive to make the body as clean as
you believe was the body of the Lord Jesus Christ.. Build the whole
life for God. ~Speer~
